Moving Forward

by Amobee, December 20, 2016

Today, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced a proposed consent agreement with Turn related to our former partnership with Verizon Wireless and use of their non-PII mobile device identifier.

After a nearly two-year process and extended negotiations, we look forward to avoiding further distraction and expense so that we can continue to serve our customers. The settlement validates the steps we took early in 2015, when Turn terminated the partnership and ceased using the Verizon Wireless identifier.

The proposed agreement, which does not include any admission of guilt or wrongdoing, confirms certain obligations for disclosures and consumer opt-outs that align with our existing practices. Turn has agreed to the order to avoid a lengthy and costly litigation process and to continue our single-minded focus on serving our global brand and agency customers. We want to emphasize that Turn complies with applicable law and industry standards and regulations, and that this agreement will have no impact on the work we do for our clients or our ability to compete in the market.

We take our obligations regarding consumer privacy very seriously. Our system was built with privacy in mind, and it is first and foremost designed to avoid the collection of personally identifiable information (PII). Turn is a proud and longstanding member of the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) and participates in the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA), European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA), and the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (DAAC).

For more information on Turn’s privacy practices, please see our Privacy Guidelines.
