Employee Spotlight: Leah Bosé, Senior Manager, Compliance & Info Security Risks

by Myranda Garcia, November 05, 2021

Meet Leah Bosé, Senior Manager, Compliance & Info Security Risks, located in San Diego, CA. Leah has been with Amobee for 6 years, initially starting on the Email Team and later transitioning to the Legal team where she’s currently supporting many client assessments, providing contract support, and continuously improving our Info Security Management System. Before starting a career in AdTech, Leah was a professional cake decorator and competed on an episode of TLC’s Fabulous Cakes. Leah has a passion for nature and animals; in her free time, you can catch her at the California Wolf Center where she’s been a dedicated volunteer for the last 6 years. Read more about Leah’s exciting career path, interests, and passions in this month’s employee spotlight!

Big picture, why did you join Amobee?

Hands down, I joined Amobee for its culture. I was looking for a company that I could grow with both personally and professionally. I interviewed in 2015, back when the San Diego office was decked floor to ceiling with year-round birthday decorations; everyone was so kind and welcoming. Walking into the interview, I knew Amobee was the place for me.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my responsibilities is the continuous improvement of Amobee’s security posture. I joined the Information Security team about 2 years ago and feel an immense sense of pride seeing what our small team has accomplished in a short period of time. I feel exactly the same as part of the Email Team, this team has some of the most incredible people here at Amobee and is one of our oldest revenue streams operating for 12+ years. Working every day with people that I genuinely consider friends is peak career happiness.

What are some of your passions and hobbies outside of work?

  • Prior to Amobee, I was a professional cake decorator for 5+ years. I actively competed and was even on TLC’s Fabulous Cakes.
  • I have been a volunteer with the California Wolf Center for 6 years. I have my certificate in Chemical Immobilization and Wildlife Handling. I have worked hands-on with both North American Grey Wolves and critically endangered Mexican Grey Wolves – including puppies!
  • I have summited Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States at 14,505 feet. On our hike we encountered lightning, hail, flash flooding, and a forest fire started by the lightning.
  • I achieved a childhood dream by volunteering in the 2020 Iditatord in Alaska.
  • I published my first documentary in September 2021, ‘Skin In The Game’. The documentary took 11 months to complete and focuses on climate change, social injustice, women’s equality, mental health, and the importance of political representation.

What is your favorite memory with the Amobee team?

There are too many to count, between epic Amobee Decathlons, holiday parties, and team offsites; but my all-time favorite memory that makes me laugh every time I think about it is the SAN Easter Egg Hunt of 2018. Juli Suzuki was SO certain she would be the one to find the golden egg and she was super close, but I happened to take a picture the moment Ryan Cherenson found it instead. It is devastation and happiness side by side in a picture.

What is it about Amobee’s vision and mission that motivates you?

I love that Amobee values initiative and growth. Our culture and people make things happen and I have really enjoyed building processes and initiatives from the ground up with a core group of colleagues. Amobee genuinely lives a continuous improvement lifestyle and it’s always impressive looking back at the big picture to see how far we’ve come and how much we’ve grown.

How does it align with your vision for your career?

If you envision it, I’ve learned that Amobee leaves room for you to build it. My role has evolved immensely over the years and my managers have been supportive in my goals to explore new roles and fill identified gaps. I have never felt stuck in a box at Amobee and know there is lots of room for growth, both for me personally and within this company.

What have you observed about Amobee’s culture and the working environment?

Everyone at Amobee wants to see one another win. Whether it is winning an RFI, securing additional spend, or closing an OKR gap – our people champion one another to make it happen. It’s a rewarding work environment to have your colleagues genuinely work together and cheer you on.

Our people love to ask and answer questions – there is no such thing as a ‘silly question’ at Amobee. Whenever I have felt I have a ‘silly’ question, I feel confident to ask it and am always met with a genuine response.

On a personal note, I have made some of my best friends at Amobee through the years. This company attracts people that are motivated, compassionate, and FUN. Some of these friendships are ones that will last a lifetime.

What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?

If you asked me this question in 2019, I would answer it very differently from how I would answer it now. The last year has impacted everyone’s life to varying extents in devastating and meaningful ways. If we are fortunate enough to be in a stable situation, every day is a choice.

We have learned how to collaborate efficiently spanning vast distances and how to connect with one another and our clients in meaningful ways. We have shown each other grace and understanding in a season of deep challenges. I am looking forward to prioritizing life, growth, and connection. To me, this means doubling down on DEI commitments across our industry, making positive choices for our planet and one another, celebrating each other’s wins, genuinely asking a colleague how they’re doing, pursuing challenges that lead to growth, and taking more lunch breaks outside. Our industry and our company will thrive if we ourselves are healthy first.

The last year has opened the industry to honest communication; as in what is working and what is not. This is a unique opportunity to revolutionize how we think about our careers, how we operate, and the impact Amobee makes as a whole. We are a diverse group of incredibly passionate and motivated people, and I am looking forward to seeing what positive choices we commit to every day here forward.
